Nancy’s Story: A New Path Through Tailoring Training

My name is Adokorach Nancy. I am 19 years old and a tailor in Kitgum. I gained my skills and profession from Pader Girls’ Academy after completing a one-year training program in tailoring and garment cutting.

Before joining Pader Girls’ Academy, I had to drop out of school because my mother, a widow, couldn’t afford secondary school fees. I felt frustrated and hopeless as I had always dreamed of becoming a nurse, but that dream seemed out of reach.

After staying home for a year with no prospects of returning to school, I began training with my mother’s friend, who owned a tailoring shop in town. However, the training was informal and difficult. Thankfully, I was recruited by CCF (Now Te-Kworo Foundation) for a formal tailoring course. Over 10 months, I underwent both theory and practical lessons, gaining skills that are now the foundation of my livelihood.

The skills I acquired, along with the start-up kit provided by CCF, have completely transformed my life. I went from being totally dependent on my family to becoming a source of support for my mother and siblings. The income I earn at the shop allows me to meet their needs and provide for our household.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me through this journey. To others facing challenges, I want to encourage you: with determination, you can always succeed.
