Stella’s Story: From Hardship to Hope Through Tailoring Training

My name is Akwiri Miriam Stella. I am 23 years old and a mother of one child. I am a graduate of tailoring from Pader Girls Academy. Before I returned to school after dropping out due to pregnancy, my life was miserable. The boy who made me pregnant was also a student and could not support me or the child. He was unhappy about the pregnancy, leaving me to navigate the challenges alone.

I knew about Pader Girls Academy and the opportunities they offered to give girls like me a second chance. I applied for their vocational skills training program, and I was overjoyed when I was accepted to train as a tailor.

While at school, I worked hard during practical lessons, determined to master everything I could about fashion. My dedication, combined with the practical training I received, helped me succeed in my exams. Now, I am a skilled tailor and able to support my family.

After completing my course, I started hiring a sewing machine from a local tailoring shop to begin my work. Later, I was fortunate to receive my own sewing machine from CCF (Now Te-Kworo Foundation). In the past, I couldn’t afford even basic necessities. Now, I am able to save money and support my household by purchasing soap, clothes, and medicine when someone is sick.

I am deeply grateful to CCF (Now Te-Kworo Foundation) for the support that has shaped who I am today. To others facing hardships like I did, I encourage you to keep hoping and never give up—you never know when an opportunity might change your life.
