Lawino Eunice's Story: A Journey of Hope and Perseverance
My name is Lawino Eunice, and I am currently in Senior 2 (Year 8) at Kworo High School, Nwoya Campus. I am the fifth child in a family of seven, and I live with my single mother, who is mentally impaired. For much of my life, my maternal Aunt has taken care of us since I was in Primary 5 (5th Grade).
However, this situation has made life incredibly difficult. My Aunt could barely meet our basic needs, focusing only on ensuring that we ate. Education was never her priority because she simply couldn't afford the books, pens, uniforms, or school fees. As a result, I lost hope in continuing my studies. I went to school every day, knowing that at any moment I could be sent home, and that would likely mark the end of my education.
Everything changed during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. While working in the garden, I heard a radio program on Rupiny FM about education support for vulnerable girls provided by the Te-Kworo Foundation. This piqued my interest, so I went to the school to learn more. I was fortunate because when I shared my situation with the project officer, she took my details and later informed me that I had been granted a partial scholarship to attend Kworo High School, Nwoya campus.
Today, I am full of hope. Thanks to the support I have received, I can continue my education. My Aunt now only has to pay half of my school fees, which she agreed to provide in exchange for supplying firewood for cooking. I am confident that with this assistance, I will finish my Ordinary Level studies and pursue a professional course to fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher. Once I achieve this, I plan to support my siblings and my community through the services I will offer.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to the donors who are making this possible. Your support means everything to me and to others in similar situations. Please know that your kindness will never be in vain, and may God bless you abundantly for your generosity.
Thank you.
